Healthy Fat Intake for a Leaner You!

Healthy Fat Intake for a Leaner You!

This post is aimed at helping you reduce your fat intake and becoming a leaner you! The average person still eats too much fat, and as we all know fat is a factor that’s linked to a variety of health problems.

I’m sure a ton of New Year resolutions have been made to lose weight, to become more lean, and to become more fit. This can be accomplished by reducing your fat intake. Most people can bring their fat intakes down to a healthy range by making a few adjustments in the way they shop for, cook, and prepare foods.

It’s so much easier today to control the amount of fat you consume.  The fat content of foods are available through the nutrition labels and through brochures distributed at restaurants, yes even fast food restaurants.

Use this information on nutrition to choose lower fat foods by comparing products and food brands.  Once you have a rough idea of what a healthy intake of fat is, you’ll know what you can and what you can’t have. It will become routine and a part of your daily living.

Of course, day to day, the amount of fat you eat will vary. Some meals and some days will be higher in fat than others, depending on schedules, etc…  Even high fat meals can be kept in line with healthy eating as long as you balance out those days with lower fat meals/days.

The best thing to remember is that the average fat intake over the course of weeks and months is far more important that the fat intake of every meal and food you consume. It’s a long term habit.

Of course, younger adults and highly active adults who have higher calorie needs can probably eat a little more fat.  Older adults and those that aren’t very active should definitely aim for a lower fat intake. You can control your fat intake and avoid the many problems associated with it and start on your way to a healthier, leaner you!

One of the best programs on burning fat, which I have personally used and follow is Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle by Tom Venuto. If you are even remotely interested in losing fat permanently and learning about healthy fat intake, then you should at least check it out. :)

Here’s to a healthier fat intake for a leaner you!

Great advice Brenda. I’m not positive but I think some non-fat foods can be saved as fat in our bodies. Any idea if that’s true? Kind of like bread can be converted to sugar?

Hey Brian… to be honest, I’m not exactly sure about that, although it’s quite possible. I know carbs are converted to sugar, but am not sure if non fat foods convert to fat, hmmm… Something to look into!

  4. To answer the question above – certainly in fact to much sugar and carbohydrates in the diet if not used for energy will most often end up as fat in the body. Of course stomach fat is the most unhealthiest form of fat in the body. Also there are basically 4 types of fat: Monounsaturated, Polyunsaturated, Saturated and Trans Fat.

The healthiest fats are the Monounsaturated and Polyunsaturated, the least healthiest fats and the ones you want to avoid are the Saturated and Trans Fats as these two typically contribute to bad cholesterol and cardiovascular problems. Margarine for example contains about 23% in trans fats.

Keep in mind 60% of the brain is composed of fat and fat is essential for brain function. But most people eat too much fat and the wrong kinds of fat.

  5. I just google what type of recipe I need at that seems to work. I had to choose a “low fat” diet too to bring my BP down…….. It’s really not what you eat it’s how much of it you eat. Try eating fruit once a day (because the naturals surgars are a little high) and eating veggies 3-4 times a day. That clears your system and drops the weight.

  10. Whip up your own French fries. Place1/2-inch-thick potato slices on a nonstick baking pan and coat with a light spray of oil. Sprinkle with paprika or salt, and bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. Turn once during baking. (For a different flavor, try this recipe with sweet potatoes.)

  11. Nice post. I know it’s a bit unrelated but which theme are you using? I’ve been attempting to make my own custom one for a WordPress powered domain (like yours) and want to have a look at the code your theme is uses.

  12. Moderation is the key here. You can basically eat what you want (within reason) as long as you are careful and use serving sizes. Like when you have a craving for something chocolate, grab a small mini candy bar.
